Village Voice Hit Piece Attacks 9/11 Skeptics

Says it's Alex Jones' opinion that FBI carried out '93 WTC bombing, ignoring New York Times front page

A new hit piece is doing the rounds that seeks to portray the 9/11 truth movement as an almost evangelical orthodoxy with ties to Neo-Nazi organizations.

Jarrett Murphy's 'The Seekers' article in the Village Voice newspaper is a smarmy attempt to scoff at alternative explanations behind 9/11.
Murphy's attack begins by suggesting truth seekers are sub-human social outcasts who meet in underground basements and clutch 9/11 books as if they were bibles on judgment day.

He wastes little time before getting out the Nazi brush and tarring to his heart's content. The author admits that the alleged Nazi persuasion of The Barnes Review is avoided by the other 9/11 skeptics. If that's the case then why does he feel the need to mention it? Because it leaves the naive reader with the impression that disagreeing with the government is tantamount to being a Klan member.

Murphy asks, "Why would the government destroy WTC7 when no one knew or cared about it?"

How on earth can no one know about a building that occupied an entire city block and rose over 600 feet above street level? Why would no one care about a building that houses offices of the CIA, the Secret Service and the IRS? This was hardly an office warehouse.

"But to Alex Jones, the anti-government radio host who thinks the FBI plotted the 1993 Trade Center bombing, the PDB episode was just a ploy to make the [9/11] commission appear independent," writes Murphy.

Are we to divulge from this statement that Murphy thinks a commission that was appointed by the government and originally going to be headed up by Henry Kissinger was ever going to be independent?

Does the word independent spring to mind when we consider the fact that, according to Fortune Magazine, both eventual commission head

Thomas Kean and Bush share an unusually well-placed business partner: one Khalid bin Mahfouz -- perhaps better known as "Osama bin Laden's bagman" or even "Osama bin Laden's brother-in-law."

The commission helped Bush by boosting his poll numbers ahead of the election.

Hardly independent when the conclusion of the commission was that the government needed more money and power.

Murphy is also obviously blissfully unaware of Page A1 of the October 28 1993 New York Times, which described how the FBI were, via their informant Emad Salem, supposed to exchange the real explosives for fake powder before calling off the sting and allowing the bombing to take place.

"It's cold, and some passersby laugh," states Murphy when describing 9/11 protesters unfurling banners.

Here's a newsflash Mr. Murphy, half of New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge of 9/11 and consciously failed to act.

A CNN website poll showed 39% believe the US government is covering up what happened on 9/11. We are no longer the minority and to try and dismiss courageous individuals who have given up their time and money to contribute just a little to helping get justice for the victims by sneering at their efforts in your elitist way is painfully transparent.

As circulation numbers dwindle, newspaper hacks who spent years at journalism school learning how to regurgitate what they're told are insanely jealous that bloggers can instantly communicate to millions with a laptop and a phone line.

The rules have changed Mr. Murphy and you are being replaced. People will not support newspapers that lie and twist the truth.

The fact that the 9/11 movement is being directly targeted by Popular Mechanics, the State Department and others is a benchmark of our progress.
